Lynas LAMP now operational first feed to kiln underway
A huge sigh of relief should be heard around the manufacturing world as vital supplies of refined light rare earths will now come on-stream. If the murky political action had stopped the LAMP then the world would have faced a supply crunch of around 12,000 tons from 2013 onwards for several years. Manufacturers outside of the USA must be delighted as they were unlikely to get supplies from MCP and the other projects are several years away from production.
30 November 2012 FIRST FEED TO KILN Lynas Corporation (ASX:LYC, OTC:LYSDY) is pleased to announce that first feed to kiln and commencement of operations are now underway at the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant in Malaysia (?LAMP?). Initial feeding of concentrate into the kiln has occurred, and the current plan is to progress to continuous feed by next week. "This is a significant milestone for Lynas," said Lynas Executive Chairman Nicholas Curtis. "The operation of the LAMP is now a reality, and the LAMP will provide real data that will assure people that the LAMP is entirely safe for our local communities and the environment. We are excited to start creating value at the LAMP, and we look forward to sharing that value with all of our key stakeholders, including the communities in which we operate." Lynas anticipates a ramp-up period of three to four months until first commercial sales and subsequent cash generation.
