I recently read an article by Jack Lifton that mentioned that he thought that TANTALUM was in critical supply due to action against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) with tantalum being a declared "conflict" metal and Talison's closing their Western Australian mine.

Interestingly the USA has no economically viable tantalum resource and is entirely reliant on imports and there is the possibility of a very large shortfall in the coming years.

This lead me to work through Australia's tantalum resources and the companies involved..... I must admit to being quite surprised by the results. Off the top of my head I would have said GXY and GIP were the main tantalum players listed on the ASX.

But here is the ASX JORC Resource picture: http://www.australianrareearths.com/images/asx-tantulum-resources-2011.gif
Follow this link to read more about Australia's tantalum (http://www.australian-shares.com/tantalum-australia) and here to read my previous posts about Alkane (http://www.australian-shares.com/forums/search?Search=alkane) who have the world's richest Heavy REE's a huge amount of Zircon and a 200 year mine life.

I hold ALK and GXY and GIP
