The Queensland government has committed to funding the Borumba pumped hydro project, a large-scale renewable energy project.
The project is expected to cost $14 billion and create 2,000 jobs during construction.
The project is expected to be operational in 10 years and generate enough electricity to power 3.5 million homes.
