Default World's largest tidal range facility.

Mersey Tidal Power Project Summary
Plan to build a barrier across the Mersey River is underway.
This would be the world's largest tidal range facility.
It would also include a pedestrian and cycling path between Liverpool and Wirral.
The project has been in discussion for many years, with the first mentions dating back to 1924.
Technically and financially challenging, but Mersey Tidal Power has the potential to provide clean energy for over a century.
The Liverpool City Region has selected a bridge/barrage option between Liverpool and the Wirral to go through the planning stage.
The barrage would likely span the river mouth between Liverpool and the Wirral.
28 turbines would be housed in the structure to generate electricity.
The total capacity is expected to be 700 MW.
The design would include sluice gates for water flow and navigation locks for marine traffic.
The project could be completed by 2040 and is expected to last over 120 years.
