Default Galaxy stars shining brightly: But is dimmer now

I put this post up 3 years ago and a lot has gone wrong for Galaxy since then........ Perhaps a cautionary tale?

Around 5 years ago I bought an electric bike. A.K.A the "silent assassin" as electric bikes are very quiet and pedestrians tend to not hear them and step into their path. But there was a drawback- electric bikes powered by lead batteries are very heavy. Not a problem when you are zooming along, but try carrying one!

China has passed a new law, that will soon to come into force, that electric bikes cannot weigh more than 40kgs. This opens the door for the more expensive Lithium based batteries for e-Bikes as these are much, much lighter.

Galaxy will be producing electric bike batteries in 2012 and has signed off-take agreements with several Chinese bike manufacturers....

"Once complete, the Jiangsu plant will produce 17,000 tpa of battery grade lithium carbonate, the largest producer in the Asia Pacific region and the fourth largest in the world.

Galaxy is also advancing plans for a lithium-ion battery plant, to produce 350,000 battery packs per annum for the electric bike (e-bike) market.

Default Up 10% today

A strong day for ASX: GXY today.... looks like someone liked last week's announcement.

This is all about the power to weight ratio of Lithium batteries:

Note the size of the battery pack.

Default Another strong day - ASX speeding ticket

GXY is having another strong day.... They have responded to the ASX query re price rise and strong volume... we know nothing!

Personally I believe it was due to a combination of factors... one of them being GXY is about to come into production... but another factor could have been the idiotic response to a Your Money Your Call viewers question re Galaxy. The presenter (from a large broking house) opined that GXY was a rare earth play and as such was very risky... he went on to show that he hadn't a clue about GXY.

This I believe provoked a number of people to have another look... and when they looked they were hooked.

Default lithium brine production -Chile's changed weather patterns a major risk

I wonder if the hard rock lithium miners like GXY are in for a bit of a boost from mother nature. The onset of the changed rainfall patterns of late point to one of the lesser acknowledged risks for the lithium brine plays that depend on hot sun and dry conditions.http://lithiuminvestingnews.com/4021...ather-impacts/

Default Implications

If the weather pattern changes for several years then what would happen if forward sales couldn't be met?
