Default Batteries and 'mini-grids' = <power lines

The ABC article discusses the potential of batteries and virtual power lines to replace unpopular transmission lines in Australia. Batteries can be used to store excess power from renewable sources, such as solar and wind power, and then transmit it to other areas as needed. This could help to reduce the need for new transmission lines, which are often controversial due to their environmental impact. Virtual power lines are a new technology that uses batteries and other devices to store and transmit power over long distances. This could also help to reduce the need for new transmission lines. The article concludes by stating that batteries and virtual power lines could play a significant role in Australia's future energy grid.
