ASX: ASM pathway to execute mine to metal
Key points
ASM has signed a conditional framework agreement with a consortium of South Korean investors for the acquisition of a 20% equity interest in ASM’s Dubbo Project holding company. Under the Agreement a consortium fund will invest $US250m for the 20% equity interest. The Investing Partnership intends to establish a second fund to develop a domestic Korean permanent magnet manufacturing business that will enter into an offtake agreement for NdFeB (neodymium-iron-boron) alloy from ASM’s Korean Metals Plant. The Agreement creates a pathway for ASM to develop the Dubbo Project and execute its ‘mine to metal’ strategy. Read more

ASM signs Hyundai Exclusive Heads of Agreement
Australian Strategic Materials Ltd (ASM) is pleased to announce that following ongoing discussions with HEC in relation to the development of the Dubbo Project, it has signed a Heads of Agreement with Hyundai Engineering Corporation Co., Ltd., to exclusively negotiate with HEC the delivery of the FEED, which could progress to the EPC.

ASM First sale of Neodymium Praseodymium metal
ASM’s Chief Executive Officer Rowena Smith said:

Rare Earth Metallisation here or over there?
According to Rowena Smith, the managing director of Australian Strategic Materials, building a rare earths metallisation plant in Australia would only be feasible if there was an established magnet making industry nearby. Smith expressed her interest in processing critical minerals on Australian soil, but explained that customers for pure rare earths metals preferred the final stage of processing to occur close to their factories in Asia, Europe, or the United States. Australian governments are working on a strategy that prioritizes domestic processing of Australian critical minerals, while Iluka chief Tom O'Leary believes building a rare earths metallisation plant in Australia is rational and achievable and should be the focus of government policy. As China supplies nearly 80% of the materials required for magnets in devices such as drones and wind turbines, governments in Australia, the US, Japan, Europe, and South Korea are willing to invest in rare earths supply chains.

Excellent heavy rare earth oxide results from Dubbo Project pilot plant testing
• Latest pilot plant separation work for the Dubbo Project demonstrates that the process can achieve terbium (Tb) and dysprosium (Dy) oxide purity of >99.99% and >99.95% respectively. • Heavy rare earth oxides, Tb and Dy, are critical components in the production of permanent magnets, used in electric vehicles, wind turbines and other growth industries. • Tb and Dy represent 18% (~$151M) of annual forecast revenue from the Dubbo Project.
