Melbourne's 100% polyethylene and protected-steel mains
Australian Gas Networks (AGN) has completed two decades of upgrades to its infrastructure, making Melbourne's gas mains hydrogen-ready.
The 100% polyethylene and protected-steel mains are among the safest and most reliable in the world, operating with fewer fugitive emissions and compatible with delivering 100% renewable hydrogen. AGIG is investing in Hydrogen Park Murray Valley in Wodonga, which will provide 40,000 households, businesses, and industrial sites with hydrogen blends of up to 10% in 18 months. HyHome, a hydrogen-ready demonstration home in Melbourne, showcases that hydrogen is ready-to-use technology that can be part of everyday living. AGIG believes that decarbonisation can be achieved at a lower cost by using existing infrastructure to deliver renewable energy sources like hydrogen and biomethane.
