Default Cudeco's Tellurium 3,500ppm - 7.7lbs per ton

Cudeco's announcement of bonanza grades of gold at its Mt Wilgar, Qld deposit may have overshadowed their finding of a very high grade of Tellurium.

Of course it isn't a daily occurrence that you see gold grades of 556g/t but nonetheless the Te find is remarkable and important as there is a very real demand for Te now that it is being used in high performance solar applications/ high efficiency cadmium telluride thin-film photovoltaic cells and modules.

From the USGS: "The use of high-purity tellurium in cadmium telluride solar cells is very promising. Some of the highest efficiencies for electric power generation have been obtained by using this material". "Other uses include those in photoreceptor and thermoelectric electronic devices, other thermal cooling devices, as an ingredient in blasting caps, and as a pigment to produce various colors in glass and ceramics."

The price of Te has increased from US$89/kg in 2006 to 210/kg in 2010

Te's crustal abundance is 0.005 ppm. It is mainly recovered from copper ores [where it is found as a by-product in the range] (1.5-3 ppm), where it is considerably enriched [compared to its crustal abundance].? read more

Now have a look at what Cudeco have found...

So almost a 1000 times the usual [ ].
