Vic's Hazelwood converted to Battery power
The former Hazelwood coal-fired power station in Victoria has been converted to battery power.
The battery has the capacity to power approximately 75,000 homes for an hour during the evening peak. The battery is part of Victoria's plan to reach 95% renewable energy by 2035 and net-zero by 2045. This is a significant step forward for Victoria's renewable energy future and shows that the state is committed to reducing its emissions and tackling climate change. The Hazelwood battery is a major investment in renewable energy infrastructure and will help to make Victoria's electricity grid more reliable and affordable. Other states and territories in Australia are also looking to phase out coal-fired power stations. The battery is also a sign of things to come, as other states and territories in Australia look to phase out coal-fired power stations in the coming years.
