Default UCG misinformation campaign?

Those of you that have been following the Underground Coal Gasification story may remember that I said in earlier posts we would see a rash of media reports (on the slightest of evidence)seeking to downgrade-derail the UCG and UCG-GTL emerging industry as it makes the CSM industry look silly when it comes to the utilization of the energy stored in the coal.

UCG = 95%+ energy extraction
CSM ~ 5%

So our wonderful Qld Govt. has picked the wrong horse and when they legislated prematurely on UCG I believe they made a huge mistake.

What sparked the story that went around the world was a faulty lab report that said that CXY's UCG program has released benzene into local ground water. Despite the retraction of the labs finding and a follow up by another lab that the water had NOT been contaminated the press response was pervasive and vicious. I don't like conspiracy theoroes but the oil compnaies and the CSM players have a lot to lose if the UCG program takes off.... Australia can become liquid fuel independant using the UCG-GTL technologies and the USA may also be in the same position... hence we can expect that the story is a harbinger of what is to come.....

MEDIA RELEASE 16 July 2010 Cougar Energy has identified laboratory reporting discrepancy from tests on Kingaroy monitoring wells

Cougar Energy Limited has received incorrect laboratory results from water bore tests taken in association with the Company?s Kingaroy Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) pilot project in Queensland. This follows an announcement by Queensland?s Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) that it will order Cougar Energy to keep its Kingaroy UCG plant closed until the Government is assured that groundwater resources are protected. DERM?s decision followed a result from a bore sample taken by the Cougar Energy under the Company?s voluntary testing program, which it undertakes in addition to monthly water bore tests conducted under Government regulated procedures by an independent firm, Golder Associates. ?We have now been advised in writing today by the independent testing laboratory that the result from this one sample was incorrect,? Cougar Energy?s Managing Director, Dr Len Walker, said today. ?Further, and prior to DERM?s announcement and its decision on Kingaroy, we advised DERM that a subsequent test sample taken one week later and submitted by Golder Associates from the same water bore generated a clean (zero) reading, free of contaminants,? Dr Walker said. ?Cougar Energy is confident that a full investigation into the discrepancy in the laboratory results will confirm that the Company has been conforming with Government requirements and that a reading submitted in good faith by Cougar Energy and which resulted in this sudden DERM shut-down decision, is incorrect.? Cougar Energy executives are this afternoon meeting with DERM to advise of the laboratory results discrepancy and will be presenting DERM with a written admission by the independent laboratory regarding the incorrect results. Cougar Energy will also produce results to verify that the last two monthly sampling tests conducted by Golder Associates showed no trigger levels of contaminants.

Linc Energy (ASX:LNC) Confirms That It Remains Unaffected By Cougar Energy (ASX:CXY) Shutdown

Linc Energy (ASX:LNC) Confirms That It Remains Unaffected By Cougar Energy (ASX:CXY) Shutdown
Perth, July 19, 2010 (ABN Newswire) - Following inaccurate and misleading reports in local and national media over the weekend, Linc Energy (ASX:LNC) (PINK:LNCGY) again confirms that it is continuing to operate its UCG demonstration plant at Chinchilla and is not affected by the Queensland Department of Environment and Resource Management ("DERM") shut down of the Cougar Energy (ASX:CXY) Kingaroy operation.

Linc Energy acknowledges the encouraging results stated in the additional media releases by DERM on 17 and 18 July and notes that the ongoing investigation of the environmental concerns regarding benzene and toluene are specifically related to the Cougar Energy Kingaroy site and the operations directed by its underground coal gasification ("UCG") technology provider, Ergo Exergy Technology Inc.

Linc Energy confirms that the UCG operations which it conducts utilise proprietary techniques significantly different from those employed by Ergo Exergy and Cougar Energy.

Linc Energy notes that the groundwater monitoring data which it has collected at Chinchilla and supplied to DERM over the past 11 years evidences the fact that there has been no impact on the quality of the groundwater of adjacent property holders.

Linc Energy continues to confirm that it remains in compliance with all groundwater monitoring and reporting requirements set out in the Environmental Authority for UCG at its Chinchilla demonstration facility.

"The investigation being undertaken by DERM in Kingaroy is specific to Cougar Energy and the manner in which it conducts its UCG operations with Ergo Exergy.

Whilst we have communicated our concerns to DERM about their decision to include reference to operations conducted in a different manner by unrelated companies in their initial media release about this matter, we will continue to work proactively with the Queensland government regulators in all respects", said Linc Energy's CEO Peter Bond.

For those of you that like the leading edge have a look at RER's three leading methods for the extraction of energy from underground coal..... (UCTL, BME, W10) these are the future.

Then vist CTP's Perdika coal deposits and put them together.... Happily CTP and LNC's UCG suitable coal is NOT in Qld.
