Default LYNAS CORP: News analysis a great post on Topstocks by GoldDigger

Golddigger, a gold miner who seems to know his stuff has made the following comments on Lynas Corp on the Topstocks forum.... He seems to have summarised the situation with clarity.....

The following are the requirements that Lynas, Atomic Licensing Energy Board (AELB)and the Malaysian Government must adhere to.

1. Plan for long term waste management. Water leach purification solids. This to take place after the CLOSURE OF PLANT 20 years hence.

2.Managing waste.AFTER DECOMMISSIONING AND DISMANTLING OF PLANT 20 years hence.

5.Establish a Fund to cover the cost of long term management waste including Decommissioning and remediation 20 years hence.

10.LYC to intensify its communication with interested/affected parties re radiological safety.

In essence a plan, a plan, a fund, to communicate with the local community.

Atomic Licensing Energy Board (AELB)

3. Results of exposure monitoring.ONCE PLANT IN OPERATION.

4.Set up a criteria to allow residues to be declared non radioactive, can be removed as scheduled waste.

7.To regularly update the Regulations.

8.To enhance the transparency and visibility of its regulatory actions in the eyes of the public related to Inspection and enforcement.

9.To intensify its activities regarding public Information.

Malaysian Government.

6.Ensure AELB has sufficient, human, financial, and technical resources.

11.Malaysian Government to prepare an Action Plan, basically to ensure recommendations are carried out.

All of the guidelines here happen on every processing plant / mine operation.
I work on one of the larger gold processing plants and all the same stipulations are in place there to. its a common practice. ends
