Default Outback Qld center of Geothermal power

Greenvale Energy is developing a geothermal power hub in Longreach, Queensland.
The hub could generate up to 100 megawatts of electricity, enough to power about 100,000 homes.

The project is still in the early stages, but Greenvale Energy hopes to have the first power plant up and running by 2026.

The hub could be a major source of renewable energy for Queensland and could help the state reduce its reliance on coal.

The geothermal power hub would be located in the Surat Basin, a large area of sedimentary rock that is rich in geothermal energy.

The hub would use hot rocks technology to extract heat from the Earth's crust.

Hot rocks technology is a relatively new technology, but it has the potential to be a more efficient and cost-effective way to generate geothermal energy than traditional methods.

The development of the geothermal power hub in Longreach is a significant step forward for the Australian renewable energy industry.

The hub could help Australia reduce its reliance on fossil fuels and meet its emissions reduction targets.

The above is a summary of the ABC's story: Greenvale Energy thinks outback Queensland could be centre of geothermal power hub
