Cougar remains in halt as new tests clear groundwaterMarija Stojkovic
Tuesday, 3 August 2010

UNDERGROUND coal gasification player Cougar Energy has extended its trading halt to finalise funding discussions for its ongoing operations while new test results have found the groundwater around the plant to be within Australian drinking water guidelines.

?Seven of the sample sites within a 2 km radius of the plant recorded no detectable levels of benzene or toluene,? he said.

?A minute trace of toluene, just above detection levels, was detected in one bore outside the plant.

?There was an extremely low level of toluene - just above detection levels ? in the second bore on the Cougar site.?

So another scare campaign in an election context..... But I wonder if the UCG industry will ever trust the current Qld Govt.
