Default When are alternative energy stocks going to rise?

Obama seems to be the ultimate alternative energy supporter, so I suppose that alternative energy stocks will rise under his presidency.
The oil price is down a lot right now, and that doesn't support investments in alternative energy; I also heard that oil companies will fight to death to stop alternative energy companies from taking off. When is going to be the best time to invest in solar, wind and hydrogen

Default Hi Denison

Hi,
I think we have already seen a boom in one sector... the Rare Earth Elements that are vital ingredients for the emerging electron economy. We are also seeing a rise in uranium stocks that is quite marked here in Australia.

Solar with energy storage seems to be on the agenda and distributed solar systems have seen a huge uptake.

In Australia and I gather elsewhere several of the big oils are also making some pretty cutting edge investments into alternative energy.

So as a quick answer now is the time.

^ True. I think NOW is the right time too.

I have read somewhere that someone has calculated the cost of solar technology and it seems like the results are dropping. Saying that electricity from solar technology will cost much lesser than of the use traditional electricity. It even mentioned there that the prices of solar technologies would probably be much lesser and cheaper starting 2013.. I guess we'd have to wait for 2 more years for this to happen?

Proponents of alternative energy argue that fossil fuels are inefficient, unsustainable, environmentally destructive, and the primary contributor to global climate change. They say renewable energies are a viable and immediately needed alternative to fossil fuel use that could boost the US economy and reduce reliance on foreign energy sources. Whether alternative energy sources such as biofuels, hydrogen, solar, geothermal, or nuclear energy can meet energy demands better than finite fossil fuels such as oil and coal remains hotly debated.
